Our Cat Cafe Story
Welcome to the whimsical world of The Qattery, where upstairs feline friends and coffee blend harmoniously whilst downstairs you can enjoy a selection of hot food, cakes and a variety of purrfect speciality coffees. Our mission is to provide a loving sanctuary for our rescue cats while offering customers a unique dining experience filled with relaxation and meowgical moments.
All of the cats inside the cafe have been rescued from the heat of Qatar, in detrimental circumstances, nurtured back to full health and relocated to the UK. The streets in Qatar are overrun with cats where they far out-number the people able to adopt them, this also means that rescuers end up feeding large street colonies and very often paying from their own pocket for veterinary treatment and Trap Neuter Release (TNR).
Instead of leaving our rescues behind, we chose to bring them home with us. So far, 16 have successfully travelled 4,500 miles, while an additional three are awaiting clearance before they can join the rest of the group.
The concept for the cafe emerged from a desire to create a sanctuary for the cats. Initially, the plan involved leaving the cats for extended periods while working to support the sanctuary. However, upon discovering a charming little business for sale, the idea of establishing a cat cafe took shape. This new venture would allow for the opportunity to work while spending quality time with the cats, ultimately presenting a more fulfilling solution.
